time now

11pm in Greece, 1pm in California, always thinking about her. It has been 12 years since I left CA, but only 2 years since I left US. Not sure how it happened but instead of moving towards CA I moved away far away. There are so many big things and little things that I miss daily. Yet, here i am now, this is where we live at least for now. I despair and I am unable to share these feelings around me. Life is short, yes, I keep this in mind and do try to enjoy the beauty around me. Greece is for sure one thing, a beautiful country geographycally.

  1. Thessaloniki, Athens, I live somewhere else though. Not sure for how long. Where are you guys? for how long? I can say that I am an expat of 2 countries, US and Spain, double citizen woman, mother of 2 wonderful kids, Meteorologist by proffesion and by heart. However with the move and other circumstances I am not practicing now.
Better to focus on the good if possible right? one good thing here is the food, tasty, fresh, healthy.
    Oops more later! :-)

  2. running out of energy... so tired everyday at the end of the day.... honestly wishing I lived back in the US, California. It is a dream for me but never is too late, never give up on dreams right? still I keep my self busy with the daily routine. This morning the sunrise was a-ma-zing, cold, crispy, oranges, blues, and many shades in between, another good thing about living here I guess. I just don't want to start talking about the dislikes, about how much I feel a foreinger here.... another time. I am still waiting for your comments. Some pics? :-)
    good night.

  4. My first move was from Madrid to Santa Cruz CA, during summer 1993, then to DC on summer 2000 and then to Greece 2 years ago. Moves are never easy but taking it day to day makes it a bit more real, easier to manage. What tips would you give to make transitions eaier?
Learning the languaje of your new country of course, yeah.. not easy and it takes time but 'it is a must' as a good friend of mine always tell me.

  5. Why not? Greek Glamour (by my cousin)! yeah... this is something I've got to mention and write and write if anybody is interested in hearing more. For one thing, the things that happen here do not happen anywhere else, at least that I have seen. For example, cars do drive both ways in a one way street, watch out! and they don't drive slow eaither! Traffic signs do lead you wrong often. The amazing mess around here in everyway is just that amazing! BUT Greeks do stick together, and as much in the border of sinking as they are, they keep on with their lives as usual. Perhaps the sate of chaos is permament here and they have learnt to adjust. I have not.
Miss you much my expats friends, my American friends.
Having chamomile, going to bed soon.

  6. It is a must to think of yourself, to take care of you. Especially if you are taking care of others you must be well. Emails, writing, reading sometimes when I find a few minutes of peace, it all helps to get connected and to not become crazy. It helps me. It is amazingly important to read from others, like us, to share feelings. And then at night before going to bed i look through the window and see the stars, the moon when is there, the same for all of us here on Earth. So I can fly and feel I am somewhere else. Tell me, what do you feel, do you want to scape? why don't you? OR you have adapted, you are one more, no need to scape.
With a smile se kalinijtiso ... or something

  7. 'Midnight in Paris' love that movie! inspires me. One thing that helps me is to watch good movies, read good books, good quotes, listen to inspiring music, it makes me fly and for sometime imagine I am somewhere else. Of course the reality is that i don't have much time to do any of these fun hobbies but when I do, it is so worth it!
Still today was a good day! soak up the sun as much as possible, fun with the kids.
    good night.

  8. Hola. Do you believe in destiny? I do believe that everything happens for a reason. And it is easy to think that because of that everything will work out for the best. Patience is the greatest of virtues. Bufff so tired these past couple of days. Looking forward to the Spring, blue skies, windy days, motivation, dreams.
What do you look forward to?
    Night.

  9. 10 am in MD, 7am in CA. Today is one of those days.... that I want to scape. But cannot so I try to occupy myself with cooking, silly dancing with the kids, in order NOT to think.
What do you do in these kind of days.... I also occupy my mind reading news, world news! always bad news. That puts things into perspective.
I want to write, I want to write.
    Nite, nite.
